OVEN TYPE

The following request form is used to configure a a composite oven to meet your exact requirements.

OVEN CLASS

As defined by NFPA 86, there are two classes of ovens. Class B is an oven "wherein there are no flammable volatiles or combustible materials being heated". Class A ovens are those utilized in processes with present solvents, volatile materials or other flammable or combustible contents. Electrically-heated composite ovens typically are usually Class B ovens, while gas-fired ovens are always Class A.

DOOR CONFIGURATION

ASC can manufacture ovens with swing doors or vertical lift. We can also provide double-door on front and back of oven.

ASC can install high-temperature windows on the door(s). Standard windows are 10" x 10".

AIR CIRCULATION

Air circulation is one of the most critical elements that effect oven performance. High air velocity creates better temperature uniformity and increases the thermal transfer to and from the part load during heating and cooling operations. For most composite parts, we would suggest a target of 250 fpm for best performance and value. It is also standard practice to define the number air exchanges per minute rather than define a specific air-speed. In this case ASC typically recommends at least 15 exchanges per minute.

TEMPERATURE PEFORMANCE

Heating rates are calculated as average air-temperature rate from ambient (ie. 75 'F or 24 'C) to maximum operating temperature with the defined thermal load and a specific operating pressure. Cooling rates are calculated as average air-temperature rate from maximum temperature to 140 'F (60 'C) with the defined thermal load and a specific operating pressure. Temperature uniformity is qualified based on specific guidelines - see additional notes.

VACUUM SYSTEM CONFIGURATION

The vacuum system is one of the most important systems on a composite oven. Typically, you should plan on at least one source line and one probe line for every part or tool in the oven.

Each vacuum source line is equipped with a vacuum valve and a filter trap. These traps are very effective in trapping contaminants during a epoxy cure cycles, however they are not actively cooled. If you intend on using the oven for high temperature polyimid cure cycles, then you should consider purchasing the optional VacTrap cold-trap system.

LIGHTING

The oven can include interior lighting. Each light is 250w.
