Defense and ballistics

Autoclaves that build better armor.

Ballistic armor combines composites, steel, silica, and ceramics, and most of it must be bonded and cured in an autoclave. The world's largest armor producers use ASC's ballistic-capable Econoclave®.

Applications

Where ASC equipment protects people

Body armor

Composite and ceramic plates bonded and cured under pressure for consistent protection, plate after plate.

Vehicle armor

Composite structures cured in large autoclaves, then assembled into the armor of personnel vehicles.

Ballistic glass

Multi-layer transparent armor laminated in Econoclave GLS autoclaves built for high pressure.

Built for high pressure

Instrumental in armor production

As IEDs became a leading threat in Iraq and Afghanistan, US and allied forces needed better body armor for every soldier and better armor for personnel vehicles. The result was a focused effort to develop and manufacture more, and better, armor.

ASC autoclaves and control systems became instrumental in that production. The Econoclave is rated for the high pressures armor processing demands, and CPC controls record every cure so each lot can be verified.
