Nuclear fuel industry
Thermal processing for the nuclear fuel cycle.
ASC is a US manufacturer with decades of experience supplying the nuclear fuel supply chain. Fuel facilities across the country use our UF₆ autoclaves and hot and cold boxes for their safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.

Capabilities
Designed and built for UF₆ handling
Uranium hexafluoride is radioactive and highly toxic. Every system we build for it is designed for containment first, with durability and multiple layers of safety.
Sampling containment autoclaves
Autoclaves that slowly heat and melt enriched UF₆ in 30B and 48-series cylinders, then tip forward so a small amount can be drawn into sampling bottles. Built for ASME Lethal Service, with multiple safety systems and interlocks.
Transfer autoclaves
Similar to sampling autoclaves, transfer autoclaves heat UF₆ to its vapor state so it can move from the storage cylinder into a secondary process, fully contained. They can also sublimate UF₆ straight from solid to gas, without melting it.
Hot and cold boxes
Heating (hot box) and cooling (cold box) stations for sublimation and desublimation of UF₆ in 30B, 30C, 48X, and 48Y cylinders, designed for consistent thermal control and operator safety.
Hot and cold boxes
Heating and cooling stations for UF₆ cylinders
ASC hot and cold boxes heat and cool UF₆ cylinders inside controlled enclosures for sublimation and desublimation. They are engineered with the same expertise as our pressure vessels and autoclaves, and they integrate with ASC sampling and transfer autoclaves and with facility ventilation and filtration.

FAQ
Nuclear equipment questions
What is a UF₆ sampling autoclave?
A sealed, heated pressure vessel that holds a UF₆ cylinder while the uranium hexafluoride is melted and a sample is drawn. It serves as heater, sampling station, re-solidification chamber, and containment in one, so no UF₆ can escape during the process.
Which cylinders do ASC nuclear systems handle?
ASC autoclaves and hot and cold boxes are designed for standard UF₆ cylinders, including 30B, 30C, 48X, and 48Y.
Is the equipment built in the United States?
Yes. ASC designs and builds its nuclear equipment in the United States and supports it through installation, startup, and service.
