Automotive composites

From the race track to the road.

Composites made dragsters, NASCAR, and Formula One faster. Now carmakers use the same carbon fiber for performance and efficiency, and cars like the Chevrolet Corvette and Dodge Viper SRT have cured their composite parts in ASC Econoclaves.

Choosing equipment

Oven or autoclave?

Whatever the size or complexity of your parts, our sales engineers will help you choose the right curing equipment.

A compact ASC composite curing oven with its doors open
Oven curingFor many non-structural carbon fiber parts, a composite curing oven with a vacuum-bagged cure is a great solution. ASC ovens share many autoclave features: CPC controls, part thermocouples to control and monitor each part, and part vacuum lines for bagging.

Autoclave curingWhen finer detail, tighter tolerance, lighter weight, higher strength, and lower porosity matter, pressure takes the cure a step further. The Econoclave adds active part cooling to the oven's features, shortening every cycle.

The Econoclave on National Geographic

National Geographic's documentary on the 2015 Dodge Viper SRT follows the car's carbon fiber parts through Plasan Composites and an ASC Econoclave, showing how high-performance automotive composites are made.

Like Chevrolet and Dodge, many high-performance and luxury carmakers have reached better performance and fuel economy with more complex carbon fiber designs.
