Dewaxing autoclaves
Dewaxing autoclaves that protect the shell.
Steam dewaxing autoclaves for investment casting that reach full pressure in seconds and vent under programmable control.

High performance
100 psig in 3 to 4 seconds
ASC dewaxing systems use an engineered steam and pressure delivery system that typically pressurizes the autoclave to 100 psig (6 bar) in under 3 to 4 seconds. That rapid rise in pressure and temperature, to 330 °F (165 °C), melts the wax at the shell interface first and protects the ceramic shell.

The dewaxing process
A typical dewax cycle
1. Rapid pressurization
Steam pressurizes the autoclave to about 85 psi (5.8 bar), in some cases rising gradually to 140 psi (9.6 bar).
2. Dwell
After heat-up, the load dwells for 15 to 20 minutes while the wax melts out of the shells.
3. Controlled depressurization
Pressure drops at a controlled 15 to 30 psi/min (1 to 2 bar/min) to reduce the chance of cracking the shells.
4. Wax recovery
At 15 psi (1 bar), autoclave pressure pushes the wax out into a collection system.
What makes us different
A complete, automated dewaxing system
The autoclave, steam supply, venting, and controls are engineered, built, and tested together at ASC, so the whole cycle runs automatically from door close to wax recovery.

Fully integrated
Steam generator, accumulator, piping, valves, sensors, and controls that automate the entire dewaxing process.
Quick-opening door
ASC's proprietary quick-opening door comes standard for rapid, safe loading and a fast start to every cycle.
Controlled venting
Proportional vent valves give programmable control of venting, which is critical to reducing shell cracking.
Data you can validate
With CPC computer control, every cycle is controlled, recorded, and reported to validate the dewax.
FAQ
Dewaxing autoclave questions
What is a dewaxing autoclave?
A dewaxing autoclave uses high-pressure steam to melt the wax pattern out of ceramic shell molds in investment casting. The steam must reach pressure within seconds so the wax surface melts before the rest of the wax expands and cracks the shell.
How fast does an ASC dewaxing autoclave pressurize?
ASC's engineered steam and pressure delivery system typically brings the autoclave to 100 psig (6 bar) and 330 °F (165 °C) in under 3 to 4 seconds.
How do you prevent shell cracking?
Rapid pressurization melts the wax at the shell interface first, and proportional vent valves control depressurization at 15 to 30 psi per minute. Both reduce the stress that cracks shells.
